What Is the Shadow Self?

"It is a frightening thought that man also has a shadow side to him, consisting not just of little weaknesses- and foibles, but of a positively demonic dynamism. The individual seldom knows anything of this; to him, as an individual, it is incredible that he should ever in any circumstances go beyond himself. But let these harmless creatures form a mass, and there emerges a raging monster." ~ Carl Jung, “On the Psychology of the Unconscious.”

The shadow self is that side of yourself that you hide from yourself.  The part of your unconscious mind that the conscious mind does not want to face.  In other words, the shadow self is the darker side of personality. The part of yourself that you do not want to except for whatever reason.

The shadow self that part of you that you do not what the world or yourself to see.  The shadow self is those deep dark secret and desires that we all hide.  The shadow self is the side of you that you do not want to admit to, but it is still a part of who you are.

Because the shadow self is filled with what we all seem to see as the darkest sides of ourselves, we do not like to explore it.  It is through that if one can break through the subconscious mind and reach the shadow self that much soul healing can take place.  Or course this could take many lifetimes to achieve.

There are those that believe this why we are here on Earth.  We are here on Earth to help one another and heal the planet.  As we help those around us and the Earth heal, we will manage to face and heal the shadow self.  It is believed with many lifetimes of healing the shadow self will disappear.
